West of the Messiah

For the longest time now

I thought you were getting better

I thought

hoped

maybe you saw what you were doing

maybe you saw what you had become

no

That proves its still there

you still need the attention

you still need the gratification

you still need

You still are not You

I want to be wrong

Brown Dragonfly

Brown Dragonfly

you hide your beauty

among the dead flowers

among the rotting leaves

you fly with ravens

scavenge with crows

Brown Dragonfly

shine your purples, reds, greens, and golds

Brown Dragonfly said to me,

Brown human,

you do not know what beauty is.”

Pantheon

Think on this

Buddha, Muhammad, Olodumare, Jesus

Hell Maybe some incarnation of

Krishna

All might be walking around the hood

the shanty towns

the slums

the back corners and trash piles

the ghettos

We wouldn’t know it but

We would

We know them

Those people

Those beings

Jesus might be an Asian woman

Muhammad might be a white man

Buddha might be an African child

Olodumare might be on facebook, twitter, and tumblr

Hell Krishna might be walking about with Ariginals at the mall

Maybe the god we are looking for

is already staring at us

Maybe the god we pray to

has already spoken

Maybe the divine force we seek to communion with

has already broken bread

Maybe

the problem is that we look for

(whatever it is that one seeks and has labeled godly)

from outside

when it has already been placed within

We are looking for God

When God has been inside

Waiting.

408 Moons

Time marches on

Never stopping

Never pausing

There is always enough

yet there never was

and there never will be

Some

have learned to lead

be one or two steps ahead

Some

claim it is a race

claim it to be a foe

swiftly catching up

usually when their bodies no longer obey

when their mental fortitude is no longer formidable

It marches on

being what it was before

being what it will be after

Sonoluminescence

We live on the surface of a bubble

inside another

under water and air

under space and time

under being and not

so fleeting is this that we call life

we have forgotten

the moment sound vibrated

speaking it into existence

So limited is our understanding of this we call life

we as a whole fail to comprehend

all life is in transition

nature give example

Form to Light

Listen

I suppose

If I were better with words

a wordsmith maybe

I could describe the sound

Crafted and carved wood against brass would be like

the first rain

falling upon a parched window

keys once made of ivory and mahogany

sound as footsteps on old and cracked city sidewalk pavement

some mostly young ones dance

avoiding the life persevering through said cracks

respecting

recognizing

seeing

the same youth in the life carving a path for their own roots

as they are told of their own

The older ones

take a moment to be still

to hold a note

to hold their breath

to feel the vibration

enjoy life

until the note has passed

How could one explain the voice of a bass

Maybe

It is the rumble of a trolley

the heft of the slow moving train

the uneasy but understood movement of the subway platform as it is arriving

but has not stopped.

the depth of its pitch causes feet to be ears

one’s chest becomes a resonating chamber

The chirps

The caws

The song of the metal birds

nothing quite like it

Words mimic the notes

vocals mime the tone

but

the horns

they fly

If I were better with words

I could tell you what Jazz sounds like

still

I don’t think I would

The words and melody are already there

for interpretation

for explanation

all I could really do is give you more

No

I wouldnt even if I could tell you about Jazz

instead

id say one word

Virgo

The scratching sound the pen makes
as it spills its ink upon the paper

The tension
The friction

The slight resistance and minor show of force
the ink and paper perpetrate against the words
against the writer
as if to
push back

The writer channels his muse
summons his mate
performs and act of love
embarks on an endeavor much more family to sex than he will ever admit
everytime as if it were the first
the writer

creates

What a Blackman’s Life is worth in 2010

years ago i wrote this out of mourning for Oscar Grant and disdain of the justice system

today I repost out of mourning for Travon Martin and disdain of the justice system

What is it worth?

A fraction of yours

The law reminded us that

JUSTICE IS NOT SERVED.

Power remains with the few

The many remain oppressed.

When injustice is weighed and dealt out

the people have the right to tip the balance.

When

FAIR

is taken from those that deserve it

They have the

RIGHT

to take it back.

What is it worth?

A fraction of yours.

A bit more than the dirt on the floor

But

Far less than that of a dog

That is what they told my:

Nephew

Cousin

Brother

Son

Uncle

Co-worker

Classmate

Husband

Father

ME

what my life was worth.

Steampunk Parable

The hardships of this world

This dimension with men made of straw and red fish

never to swim anywhere

When a person speaks from their soul

lives from their heart

they are surely practitioners of deceit

Where competition

is thee way

Where cooperation

is thee theory

One

normally finds out / expresses their

TRUTH

in fits of:

rage

intoxication

or in some other claimed state of altered being

One

claims not to be their normality / inner expression of their

. . .

Ist’s can hide their ism’s in the many layers of a joke

bastardizing the divine gift of laughter

Knowledge and Wisdom are disregarded

Neither are profitable

A once sound and true

but young

science of the mind

was called a lie

was replaced with a pill

which became very profitable

Irony became strong in this realm

In some

more than most

the very aliment that the pill is meant to

fight against

often makes worse

In some

more than most

the very pill will began a flanking assault

on the very taker of the pill

wreaking havoc upon them far worse than the ailment itself

including

but not limited to

. . .

In this dimension

this world of improper role models pulling wagons filled with loud bands

passing out poison water from ancient wells

People have come to the realization that we are animal

yet

can not fathom their very own humanity

A cosmic 12 year old we are

aged enough to have a concept of

just right

just wrong

aged enough to have a concept of

oneness

self

other

collective

individual

aged enough to be ready to embark

onto the next stage of remarkable growth

yet

young enough to hold onto

greed

separation

power

material

In this dimension

this world of misleading ambiguity and prejudicial euphemisms

the occupying beings use their opulent creativity

their fantastic fortitude

to construct

hate and fear

forcing hurt upon eachother

then forgetting said hurt ever happen

forgetting what has separated them from the other animals

fully displaying the juxtaposition of their

mental

emotional

spiritual

collective

selves

when the natural response of pity has been summoned

the beings of this world have trained themselves to view pity as a negative

the beings of this realm have taught themselves that

they are nothing more than animal

only the strongest animal survives

the weakest animal must be shown no pity

the weakest animal must be given no help

for the sake of all of the animal that is human

The beings of this realm teach themselves

pity

is

pitiful

In this dimension

this world where reason says that circles can have a point and slopes can be generalized and questions are often not hasty and contradictions are often very loaded

One

has the freedom to choose

but often

The Majority

attempts to control said choice

What was once so simple

as asking for

IT

so simple

as speaking

IT

and

IT

would

BE

Collectively we are still a bit

irrational

a mark of youth

maybe a foreshadow of foolishness

we know better

but

we do not chose better

we do not do better

In order to be considered

normal

functional

members of the collective species

we have to operate in a manner

handed down to us by collective constructs

long dead

long forgotten

that today

are unnatural with the ways of living in the current age

that today

are dysfunctional with the ways of living in the current age

that today

are without reason with the ways of living in the current age

In this dimension

this world where the beings have made themselves to be strangers to their:

soul

flesh

planet

self

one another

They sit in a place of cosmically perpetual pubescence

hungrily desiring

LOVE

but

collectively having no concept

collectively have no experience

some even question

“is this

intangible

noncorporeal

entity

feeling

emotion

construct

concept even real?”

What a cleaver and lonely child we are.

Your Oppression Is Not Welcome Here

We hold these words that were first hypocritical

these ideas that were first rebellious and treasonous

to be so

fundamentally

self-evidently

basically

true

children have to teach them to adults

yet

they that call themselves adult still

have to fathom something so natural

it needs no thought

All people are people

All things on Earth are Earthlings

Whatever differences there are

were not meant to divide

they were meant to support

Life on Earth

There is no country

There is no state

There is only the truth of you

There is only the freedom of self

The only boundary

The only border

is made of

mountain

ice

sand

imagination

Do not entertain ignorance so basic Children wont tolerate

Do not entertain ignorance so basic adults have to use force

Do not give weight to something so meaningless it gives heaviness to your heart

Let those that wish to wallow in the muck and mud of designer shallow do so

Do not negotiate with your freedoms

those that are real

are truths

those that are real

are not negotiable

Free to be is just that

any infringement on a self’s freedom

is an intrusion upon the self

any opposition to the position of expression is

an abomination

Freedom is non-negotiable
